The Leadership Imperative
January 2007

The Oregonian published an article on December 30th titled The End of the West as we know it? A few brief excerpts: “Every political, social, and economic system ever created has encountered a challenge that it is incapable of meeting due to its own nature …the existential challenge for the foreseeable future will be global warming… if our worst case scenarios do occur… looking back on early 21st Century America what will our descendants make of a political and media culture that devotes little attention to this threat when compared to sports, consumer goods, leisure and a threat from terrorism that is puny by comparison?” Do you find these types of articles both hard to read and hard to ignore like we do?

Jody Williams is a Nobel Laureate who says, “Change is not a mystery. It takes getting up off your butt and doing something about what you care about. And you have to keep doing stuff until you discover what was needed to make the changes you wanted.”

We agree – and want to up the ante: Business leaders can devote their lives to being the change they want to see in the world, while building profitable companies that secure their own future. To illuminate how this occurs we’ve written The Leadership Imperative and offer it to you as a hopeful, practical vehicle to avert the decline of our society and take care of your family in the best way possible. It’s not too soon to confront the future for yourself or your grandchildren. This brief “25 minute read” is our gift to your leadership heart, and you’ll find it on our brand new website at www.lionhrt.com. We trust the entrepreneurial spirit of America – and know many business leaders who are not willing to sit on their collective butts about what really matters!
